Can We Cancel Out Karma?

When you think a bad thought or say something negative, then realize the karma you’ve created for yourself, can you cancel it out by saying Baraka Bashad (May the blessings be)? Or is there something else you can do to correct it?

Yes, if the root of the impurity that caused the negative thought is gone.

That is a big if.

I do not wish to leave the impression that one can kiss and make it better by simply mouthing Baraka Bashad or May the blessings be. It is not that easy. Let me explain.

A negative thought or word or deed expressed reveals a blemish in some part of one’s consciousness. Such things stick like bad habits. They are quite comfortable where they are, thank you, and have no intention of getting booted out so easily.

Has a certain tune ever gone around and around in your head until you thought it would drive you crazy? A Baraka Bashad would likely not disperse it just like that.

No, it is a matter of sustained attention. What is the best way to do that, do you suppose?

Yes, by putting your whole attention upon the Mᴀʜᴀɴᴛᴀ, the Inner Master, until the negative thought gives up its hold on you. Depending upon how deeply it is lodged inside you, you may continue with this mental fast for either a short or a long time.
